"When I was a little girl, I would go out into Nanny's garden, pick orange marigolds and pink snapdragons, mash them and mix them with water, then bottle the mixture up and give it to her as perfume."

Tara has been a long time flower lover and plant geek. Growing up she was a rambunctious toddler and decided to get a head start in the horticulture industry by eating her mothers house plants. This mostly resulted in the poison control center being called repeatedly, but also instilled in her the love of all things "green and growing". She has had her hands in the dirt and been playing with flowers her whole life. With an art background in her family, florals became her artistic expression. 

In her spare time, she enjoys nature even more by hiking, gardening, and kayaking to her hearts content. Tara and her husband, Jason, live on a farmette in Lancaster County, PA, with a doggo named Hazel, a sometimes-nice kitty, and 3 obnoxious goats. They are also off-grid near Ithaca, NY, working towards a more sustainable and self-reliant lifestyle.

Flowering since 2000, Splints & Daisies uses local blooms during the growing season, subbing with domestically grown flowers as needed and in the off-season. Our small but mighty gesture actually puts a dent in the millions of imported blooms for events, which cause havoc on the environment in so many ways.

We avoid all bleached, painted, and dyed product, running from the trends, so that our flowers can be safely composted vs tossed in the landfill.

We use NO floral foam. Floral foam is a single-use plastic, and is toxic. It also is here forever: it will never decompose.

Weddings and events do not need to pollute our only earth…… we offer the alternative while not sacrificing on design and beauty.
