About the products
All my life I had battled with sensitive, itchy skin. Dermatologists
offered no hope, passing it off as "dermatitis", but not
finding the underlying cause. After researching the ingredients commonly
used in skin care products, I found that not all of the ingredients
put into products are safe for, let alone good for, anyone's skin.
It is no wonder there is a growing number of people who have skin
problems when manufacturer's have found cheap ways to produce lather,
color, and fragrance by the use of synthetics. These synthetics are
a primary cause of skin allergies, but are continually used for the
ease of mass-production. Today's "soap" is usually not soap
at all, but a bar full of harsh detergents (such as sodium laurel
sulfate) that produce lather.
Splints & Daisies soaps
and body care products contain
no artificial coloring, detergents, synthetic fragrance, or preservatives
(as these are not necessary in true soap or oil based products). The
soaps are made with all vegetable oils (no animal fats), and are scented
with pure essential oils taken from the leaves, stems, and flowers
of plants. The oils, herbs, and clay powders used in each recipe provide
coloring. Balms, oils, and salts are made with carefully selected
ingredients to provide your skin with the nourishment and pampering
you deserve. Your skin will feel the difference.
Custom floral arrangements are carefully designed and created to suit any décor.
We offer silk, dried, and fresh arrangements, wreaths, wall and door hangings,
wedding bouquets, and wedding centerpieces.
About the owner & the business...
Tara is a graduate of the Barnes Foundation Horticulture School in Merion, PA.
She has been a nature lover, plant geek, and artist since a very young age.
Splints & Daisies was started in 2000. Our name comes from the "Splints" used
in hand woven splint baskets, which were a part of our business until recently.
We still make baskets from time to time, but have decided to focus on our passion
for creating healthy bath products and beautiful florals.
Our first storefront was opened in Quarryville, Pa, in 2004, however we decided
to make a move to Manheim, Pa in September 2006. We now offer hours by appointment
in our home-based shop, in addition to mail order. We set up at a few art fairs
throughout the year, and have our products in an ever-expanding variety of shops,
garden centers and bed & breakfasts throughout the area.
We are devoted to providing excellent customer service and quality products.
Many customers have become good friends. We look forward to meeting your needs! top
